New acting role for the entrepreneur? Kim Kardashian is set to play the villain in the planned "Bratz" movie.

Kim Kardashian (44) could soon be diving back into the acting world. The reality queen is apparently close to signing on to play the villain in Amazon MGM Studios' planned "Bratz" adaptation, according to US industry magazine "Deadline." According to the report, negotiations are said to be in the final stages.

In addition to Picturestart, Kim Kardashian is also reportedly on board as a producer for the film, which revolves around the Bratz doll line. MGA Entertainment, the company behind the Bratz brand, is also involved. The screenplay for the film is by Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick. Further details on the plot or other cast members have not yet been announced.

Kim Kardashian and her acting roles

For Kardashian, it would be another step on her path to becoming a serious actress. The 44-year-old, who rose to fame on the reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and now runs a multi-million dollar empire with her shapewear brand Skims, has already gained acting experience. She co-starred alongside Emma Roberts (34) in Ryan Murphy's "American Horror Story," lent her voice to characters in two "Paw Patrol" films, and will soon be seen in the Netflix comedy "The Fifth Wheel," directed by Eva Longoria (50).

Amazon MGM Studios secured the rights to the live-action project after "Barbie" broke all records last year, and the company is hoping for the next successful doll adaptation. Bratz dolls have been conquering children's bedrooms since 2001 and , according to Variety, have already sold over 200 million units worldwide. Whether this will translate into box office success remains questionable: a Lionsgate film adaptation flopped at the box office in 2005. But following the success of "Barbie," Hollywood is making a new attempt, with studios currently developing films for toy brands like Hot Wheels, Barney, and Polly Pocket.
